02 / THE CHALLENGE

The challenge.

The wellsite communications build spanned twelve isolated production pads situated along remote gravel lease roads in Northern Alberta. The working environment was characterized by hazardous classified areas requiring specialized safety protocols and intrinsically safe tooling.

The client mandated that existing live production could not be interrupted by the electrical and communications upgrade. Furthermore, an incoming seasonal weather window compressed the allowable schedule, demanding rapid and efficient execution across all sites.

03 / OUR APPROACH

Our approach.

ASI structured the project as a single, multi-division mobilisation. Licensed electricians, cable placers, and fiber technicians were deployed under one accountable superintendent, eliminating handover delays between trades.

Site outages for the final tie-ins were meticulously planned, permitted, and isolated per pad to avoid impacting broader production. Grounding and bonding systems were rigorously verified and documented prior to the energisation of any new panel or UPS equipment.

04 / THE RESULT

The result.

All twelve remote pads were brought online during the single mobilisation without incurring any production downtime. Site electrical, fiber, and control cable systems passed functional testing and received regulatory inspection sign-off on the first submission.

Comprehensive handover packages, including panel schedules, test results, and as-builts, were issued for every individual pad. The seamless communications cutover was completed well inside the constrained weather window, securing the client's operational timeline.
