What the job required.
18,400 m of distribution fiber, 640 lots serviced, six FDH cabinets, driveway and boulevard crossings by directional bore.
The challenge.
The FTTH deployment covered a dense residential footprint characterized by mature landscaping, extensive irrigation systems, and active homeowner driveways. Standard open-cut trenching presented an unacceptable level of surface disruption and public inconvenience.
Every route was strictly measured against carrier attenuation limits, demanding precise cable handling and termination. Minimizing the gap between excavation and final sod restoration was critical to maintaining homeowner approval and municipal compliance.
Our approach.
Driveways and major boulevard crossings were bypassed using horizontal directional bores instead of open cuts, preserving the surface infrastructure intact. ASI self-performed all trenching and innerduct placement, ensuring the fiber installation crews were never delayed by third-party civil subcontractors.
Fusion splicing and FDH cabinet terminations were executed by ASI employees on company-owned equipment to maintain direct quality control. Restoration and sod repair were scheduled inside the same week as the trenching phase, rapidly closing the disruption window for residents.
The result.
The build passed 640 lots on schedule, with all 18,400 meters of placed fiber 100% OTDR-tested and documented. Traces, splice schedules, and geospatial as-builts were delivered to the carrier as one structured, verifiable package.
The rigorous testing protocols ensured there was zero re-work required upon carrier acceptance. Due to the rapid surface restoration and directional boring, municipal inspectors and the client logged minimal homeowner complaints throughout the project duration.
